Introduction Lorna Kerin Beall has always loved "old-timey" kids' books. She shared this love with her six children by reading her picture books, "Oly the Owl" and, "The Magic Bucket" in their classrooms. Other old-timey picture books followed, "Goose Steps for Andy" and, "Pastor Friederich's Yellow Britches." Inspired by real life stories of her Finnish-American family who homesteaded on the S. Dakota prairie, she has written several middle-grade novels including, "Wormy Bean Winter" for which she won the 2010 Missouri SCBWI mentorship, and "Model T Biscuits." Her daughter, Jana Segal, critiqued several drafts which inspired her to work with her mother to adapt it into a script that won first place at the Santa Clarita Family Film Festival and Moondance short screenplay competitions. The mother-daughter team eventually hope to produce the movie version. Jana recently finished writing a comedy/fantasy set in modern day Tombstone called, "Behind the OK Corral." Jana has also produced, written, and directed other shorts including, "Desert Angel" about a pioneer couple lost at Christmas. She performs a storytelling version called, "The Christmas Guest."
