| Introduction | My name is Leslie and I am 28 years old. My husband, Matt and I have been married for 7 years and have 3 beautiful babies, Austin, 8, Kayden, 6 and Brianna 3. We have a beautiful 9 month old boxer named Nitro, 50 laying hens, 50 meat birds, 10 turkeys, 4 ducks and 5 goats. We have been rasing chickens since October 2008 and we love being able to walk out our back door and grab our eggs for breakfast. We sell our eggs to our neighbors and co-workers for $1.50 per dozen. We have only done meat birds twice since we have started our chickens and we do all the processing our selves. It is definately a learning experience for us and the kids. Our daughter has a severe dairy allergy which led us to our Goats. We have been proud goat owners for about a month. We have Bob, 2, the pygmy goat, very rotten, Olive, 2, our lamancha/nigerian dwarf mix, a very sweet girl, Barbi, 8, a registered nigerian dwarf, fourteen, 1, a wethered nigerian dwarf, and an unnamed nigerian dwarf buck who is 1. They are for the most part all very sweet, sweet babies. We are planning to breed them and milk them and make cheeses and soaps from their milk as well as drinking it. |
