| Introduction | Jeremy Hayden practices primarily in the areas of real estate, commercial litigation, personal injury, land use (zoning, wetlands), small business representation, landlord/tenant, corporate, family, and appellate law. He is a member of the the Connecticut Bar Association, the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, the Fairfield County Bar Association, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyer's Association. He has been a speaker at several public interest seminars, including "Real Estate 101" for the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and "Teen Driving – Legal Updates" at Fairfield Warde High School. He has also been a speaker at various meetings with local contractors regarding Home Improvement Act compliance, and small business owners regarding legal issues surrounding customer engagement and collections issues. Jeremy serves as the Chairman of the Inland Wetlands Commission for the Town of Monroe. |
| Interests | He has represented clients in various real estate and business transactions. Jeremy has prosecuted and defended numerous foreclosures and has experience navigating CT’s foreclosure modification program. He consistently recovers damages for clients sustaining injuries as a result of others’ negligence, and represents both secured and unsecured creditors and debtors. Other experience includes the following: Briefing, arguing and obtaining an Appellate Court reversal on behalf of a small business client, in which the Court held that a contractual provision purporting to be a liquidated damages clause was in effect an unenforceable penalty, see 96 Conn. App. 14 (2006); commencing suit against a Danish company, using the International Hague Service Convention rules, subsequently leveraging a substantial settlement on behalf of his CA client; along with Attorney Ferrara, prepared the brief in the landmark Connecticut Supreme Court case, Raftopol vs. Ramey, 299 Conn. 681 (2011); dissolved and wound down a financially distressed liquor store, protecting his client’s assets including a liquor permit; negotiating a settlement with corporate client’s insurance carrier for property damage caused by water infiltration at client’s warehouse; obtaining judgment following a bench trial (in a ruling from the bench immediately after close of evidence) which included, in addition to actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest; and, represented a Fairfield County corporate client in connection with various corporate matters including stock purchase transaction and complex corporate restructuring. He is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut. He graduated magna cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2005, where he served as Publications Editor for Law Review, and received his B.A. in Political Science and History from UCONN in 2000. |
