| Introduction | Hey everyone!!! As of May 8th I will be beginning a year abroad in Xela, Guatemala for a position as an intern for a non-profit organization called Highland Partners (http://www.highlandsupportproject.org/). This non-profit focuses on breaking cycles of dependency within indigenous Maya villages, on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Arizona, and in Peru. I will be working directly with the Maya villages. Highland Partners facilitates service and mission trip groups from the US to work with these communities and participate in sustainable development projects. In my year long adventure I will be working between the communities Highland Partners partners with and the groups coming down, I will be helping with outreach, and overall communication within Guatemala and contacts in the US, and I will be coordinating the number of interns Highland Partners has every summer. I am thrilled to be having this adventure and I would love it if you would join me along the way. I will be trying my hardest to update a couple times a week, but Lord only knows if I'll come through ;). Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. |
