Introduction Welcome to my blog, my journey as I prepare for my first triathlon. After a lifetime of head up front crawl, I finally learnt to swim properly, at 40. This was five years ago, as well as front crawl, I can manage a pretty rubbish breast stroke and even a bit of butterfly! Last year, I gave open water a go, given that I have a bloody big pond, 10 miles away, the North Sea. This brought me into contact with my local triathlon club. Somebody made the suggestion, I gave triathlon a go. Me, do a triathlon, no...for starters, has anyone ever seen someone running with a walking stick, I've tried and trust me its next to impossible! But, the possibility of a triathlon became an itch, I just had to scratch. Unfortunately, despite it being 2020, very few mainstream triathlon events seem to be open to disabled athletes. So a triathlon event for disabled athletes, seemed to be the best way forward. In August, spurred on by a couple of glasses of wine and subsequent Dutch courage, I entered Superhero Triathlon event, I woke up the following morning and thought "what the hell have I done?". This is my journey on the "Road to Tri"
