About me

Industry Real Estate
Occupation Home Inspector
Location Lincoln, Nebraska, United States
Introduction I operate Stonehouse Inspections / Steinhausen Home Inspections in Lincoln, NE. I was raised on a farm in Nebraska and remain close to my roots. I enjoyed building design and drafting in high school, studied physics at Nebraska Wesleyan University, then went on to earn a BS in Construction Management from UN-L's College of Engineering. I worked in various construction-related trades as a project manager, eventually starting my own independent home inspection business in 1999. I think most folks consider me a knowledgeable, friendly, fun-loving guy, and a good communicator. I'm somewhat unconventional as a home inspector because I don't market real estate agents or do advertising. I'm generally regarded as being a "thorough" home inspector, which I've discovered doesn't make me very popular with many real estate agents. One area agent was so mad about my thoroughness she smeared me in a mass email to the majority of the local real estate community, referring to me as a "total idiot" thus providing the title (and motivation) for this blog.
