| Introduction | I'm the creator/mother of doodle doll Sophie® and I go by the name of catastrophunk. About the name catastrophunk: I fell hard in love with the made-up name the moment it popped into my subconscious. As I considered a pen name a number of ideas came about, but in the end none came close to what catastrophunk embodied. As an individual, I suffer from a severe case of EXTREMISM. I'm either too high or too low, too devoted or too careless, too focused or too distracted - no in between. Pretty catastrophic, ehh? The phunk part? Well, I guess I can be a bit eccentric and free-spirited. Catastrophunk is a portmanteau word that fuses catastrophe and phunk into one word. So there. About Sophie®: She was borne out of classroom boredom in 1998. My doodle caused such a sensation among my friends and family that its continuity was easy to develop. Since 1998 sophie has evolved from a 2-D pen & paper scribble to a 3-D polymer collectible, a rag doll, a children's publication, a series of vinyl toys, and stationery.
