| Introduction | My roots are in The South-from South Carolina to Southern California. I have crossed this country fourteen times by car while attending grammar through high school in Virginia, North and South Carolina, and college at San Diego State University and UCLA. My learned mobility and creative instincts lead me to New York City where I studied dance with Alwin Nikolais, acting at The Actors Studio, creative writing at The New School and had a twenty-two year career in Broadway, Film, and Television. When I knew it was time to move on, I returned to the one place I couldn't get out of my heart: the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Here I write short stories, essays, and novels; facilitate Lowcountry Women Writers; and teach writing workshops at the Arts Council and The Technical College. |
