IntroductionI have a full-time job in marketing and I teach film studies part-time at the local university. I spend many evenings trying to make my first homebuilt Vista box work and wondering why I'm not in shape. I live with my wife and our two dogs, Molly the Dachshund and Lita Ford the Jack Russell Terrier.
InterestsThe collision of: low culture, academic rigor, high technology, folk art, harmless vulgarity, aesthetic sophistication, practical design and creative commerce.
Favorite moviesThe Act of Seeing With One's Own Eyes, The Blues According to Lightnin' Hopkins, Titicut Follies, Touching the Void, Night of the Hunter, Cool Hand Luke, Serenity, The Empire Strikes Back, The Iron Giant, The Apostle,
Favorite musicI'm really loving the 70's right now, and the ugly band/great music equation that mostly disappeared soon after MTV showed up. I have a soft spot for the breakneck guitar work and heavy cheese of hair metal, a treasure from my winsome youth. Rap is like something I caught in college: I mostly got rid of it, but have a flare up now and again.
Favorite booksThe Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, Collected Stories by Andre Dubus, Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horwitz, The Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik, have recently taken a shine to Christopher Moore, trying to get into Hunter S. Thompson, thinking of exploring some steampunk, and have strong critical leanings to Richard Brautigan's prose.

You have a red jar of cedar chips. Why do moths miss the forest?

Because of the trees, man. They miss the forest for the trees.
