Introduction In 2008 I was 35, obese, sedentary, and sick. I had high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, migraines, hormonal issues, frequent colds, flus and infections, and I'm pretty sure I was in the early stages of Metabolic Syndrome. As the mother of two young daughters, I decided I needed to make some changes or they would be primed for a life of the same. I cleaned up my diet, got off the couch, and started working toward a more sustainable life. I've tried every 'diet' out there: low carb, paleo, low fat, mediterranean, you name it's I've tried it. I've found that I do best on a plant based diet, and I prefer that term to 'vegan' which is loaded with all sorts of baggage and stereotypes. Besides, the bit of fish I eat here and there precludes me from labeling myself veg*n. But vegan food is the tastiest. :)
