Introduction I'm 25, and am now in my eighth year in the city of the dreaming spires - after having survived English undergrad and masters degrees here I am now currently in final year of my D.Phil. I work in the period recently rechristened as the Early Modern (Renaissance is so last century, dahling) - in particular the seventeenth century. My special little area is the emergence and development of the familiar essay in English, at the heart of which is a charming little fellow called Sir William Cornwallis the Younger. Although I love my work, and can't get over how lucky I am to have surely one of the most beautiful 'offices' in the world in the form of Duke Humfrey's library in the Bodleian, everyone needs a break from dusty manuscripts once in a while. When I'm not at my desk I am often following the call of a pair of high heels (therefore having to brave the glares in the library as I click-clack my way down the aisles in my new shoes the next day), sitting entranced in the theatre, curled up with a good book, or indulging my love of cocktails or cream teas in the company of friends.
Interests Reading, books, films, theatre, writing, art galleries, shoes, tea (without milk), coffee (also without milk), hats, Art Deco, photography, flowers, clothes, pretty libraries, whisky (esp. Laphroaig), Sir William Cornwallis the Younger, the RSC, travelling, perfumes, wine, cheese, people-watching, cocktails
