| Introduction | People always ask me if I was raised on a farm. I can't help but chuckle when I answer. I grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia. I thought my food came from the grocery store and farms were a mythical creature one would hope to get a glimpse of in their life. My husband grew up on a farm in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, however. And that's where we landed. Our farm used to be called Farm Without A Name, but with many years, children and experience under our belt, we decided on a name: Thornberry Ridge. Here, we raise 3 free ranged kids, Large Black Hogs, meat chickens, laying chickens and Dexter cattle. Between our full time jobs, farming and kids, we don't have a lot of time to chew the fat, so come along with us in this amazing journey towards self sufficiency. |
