Introduction	This year alone, our work will positively impact the lives of more than one million people worldwide. HOPE International Development Agency has been extending compassion and helping the neglected poor throughout the world for over 30 years. Since its establishment in 1975 in Vancouver, Canada, HOPE’s mission has been to enable people in developed countries to connect with people in the world’s poorest communities through compassionate giving, understanding and other opportunities to help. Here in Japan HOPE International Development Agency, founded in 2000 after the aftermath of the India earthquake spurred its first activity in 2001, shares this very important mission. By organizing charity events, promoting economic development awareness and education, and promoting a positive image of the people in developing nations HOPE builds bridges between the Japanese communities with the Earth’s poorest of people. HOPE received NPO status from the Japanese Government in 2004 and is a chartered member of the Nagoya NGO Centre.
