| Introduction | Treppenwitz--noun--German--(lit. "stairway wit") A fitting remark or profound answer one discovers only when it is too late to utter (as, for example, when one is walking up the stairs after a vigorous conversation has ended). This word epitomizes my capacity for slow-dawning, molasses-like epiphanies when supersonic repartee is what the situation demands.
