Introduction I got my Ph.D. at the University of Stockholm, was acting professor in Lund and Uppsala, and full professor of psychology at the University of Göteborg 1970-88 and at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) 1988-2005. At SSE I was head of its Center for Risk Research. I have been a visiting professor in Berkeley and Stanford, at the the Dutch research center NIAS and the Belgian center EIASM, a member of Swedish Research Councils and Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Swedish Psychological Ass. I am a licensed psychologist. I coordinated an EU project (five countries) on risk perception and communication in 1996-99. I was an adjunct professor of Community Psychology at NTNU (Trondheim) and a member of its unit for Risk Psychology, Environment and Safety. I am a Member of Academia Europaea, The Academy of Europe; the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), and the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (DKNVS). My research is about attitudes and risk perception and personality testing. I have many interests, and frequently take part in media debates. According the SSCI, my work is currently cited by about 125 papers by other researchers per year.
