| Introduction | Blaney enjoys working in a variety of mediums including pencil, watercolor, pastels and oils. Over the last couple of years, he has focused on plein air painting, documenting the seasons. His background in at-sea navigation, inspired by his years in the Navy, as well as his immense appreciation for Naval history, has led him to paint oil paintings featuring the large sailing vessels of the past. He researches details of the selected ships carefully in order to create works that are historically accurate. Additionally, his paintings have been especially noted for their spectacular settings and treatment of light. |
