Introduction Welcome to my South American travel blog! I am happy to share my thoughts, experiences, and ups/downs/breakdowns with you all. This trip is a lot more than a "vacation" or "reality avoidance" for me - I feel the need for more perspective and understanding of people and places outside my Western BUBBLE before I attempt my contribution to the world - through my career, as a friend, as a family member, etc. And as financially unequipped as I am - post grad school and devoid of gainful employment - I think this will be a very rewarding three months of my life. Before you go into a diabetic coma from the sugar-laden cornyness of that intro, I implore you to stick around and check my postings, even contribute! Muchas gracias!
Interests Dutch stroopwafels, saving squirrels from abuse on the public bus system, bugging Jeff, cataloging my neuroses
Favorite Movies Those which I most often cite and have never fallen asleep while watching are likely my favorites: American Beauty, Clueless, Bring it On, and Love Actually. Although by previous logic, Out of Africa would be included, and I didn´t like that movie. But I didn´t fall asleep while laughing so hard, and find myself often saying ¨I have syphllis¨ although I don´t (really, I don´t, so it´s not a good thing to quote)
Favorite Music Nirvana, Radiohead, Third Eye Blind, Stereophonics, Travis, the Stills, Beyonce, Jay Z, Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Keane, Kanye West, Counting Crows circa 1998.
Favorite Books Matilda (Roald Dahl), The Corrections (Jonathan Franzen), Possible Side Effects (Augusten Burroughs), Infections & Inequalities (Paul Farmer), Epidemiology (Koepsell & Weiss) HA.

When you've got water stuck in your ear, how do you get it out?

It depends on how far it has gone into the canal and the temperature of the water. If it was lukewarm, I would "shake it off" like Mariah Carey.
