Introduction	I am a graduate student at Portland State University, finishing my Master's in Political Science. My research usually lies within the paradigms of political ecology, radical political economics, and world-ecology. In the fall of 2014 I will begin my PhD at University of Washington in Geography, also serving as a teaching associate. I am also a veteran jazz/avant-garde trombonist who has worked with a long list of internationally renowned artists. What I am most proud of is my work with the band Junkyard Empire, a political hip-hop/rock/jazz group I am fortunate enough to have released 5 albums with, traveled to Cuba, and played some of the biggest protests in recent history with.
Interests	political ecology, philosophy and economics, music, activism, writing, blogging, soccer, pool billiards, yoga, painting, long walks, day hikes.
Favorite movies	African Queen, V for Vendetta, the Mosquito Coast, American Beauty, Breaking Away, Annie Hall, As Good as it Gets, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, All the President's Men, Steal this Movie, Bullworth, F.I.S.T., Wag the Dog, Little Miss Sunshine, the Big Lebowski. And hundreds more.
Favorite music	I can't even start that list, except to say that it includes a lot of jazz, blues, funk, hip-hop, trip-hop, drum n' bass, outlaw country, Americana, and many Middle Eastern musics.
Favorite books	The Glass Bead Game, anything by Tom Robbins, One World Ready or Not, A People's History of the United States, Breakfast of Champions, Hot Buttered Worms, Continental Drift, Tropic of Cancer, Anatomy of Revolution, Parable of the Sower, South Street, the Affluent Society, Manufacturing Consent, the Power Elite, and a countless list of others.
