| Introduction | I am on my way to becoming a cell biologist and loving it. When I have the time, I love to bake, especially when the end result is something yummy. Cooking "real food" is enjoyable too, but not nearly as much fun as baking. :D I was born and raised in Russia, but I've lived in Finland for just about half my life. I still consider Russian to be my mother tongue, but English is a close second and my Finnish keeps getting stronger. So in case anyone is wondering: even though I'm fluent in both Russian and Finnish, this blog is in English because that's the language I feel most confident writing in (although I probably make mistakes anyways :P) |
| Favorite movies | Animations: Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Spirited Away, The Moving Castle Drama: American History X, Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Pulp Fiction Comedy: Juno, Amelie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail Sci-Fi: The Star Wars Trilogy, Terminator 2 Musical: Wizard of Oz, Sweeney Todd, Hairspray ...and many many more :) |
| Favorite music | Ah, where do I begin? Muse is definitely one of the current favorites, but bands like System of a Down, Nirvana and The Killers just never get old! And I even like some of the pop music they play nowadays (yes, Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert just know how to make catchy songs!) |
| Favorite books | I thoroughly enjoy Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, especially when I don't have much free time - they are entertaining and don't require much thinking. As for the more "serious" books - George Orwell's 1984 is great and so is Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange. But honestly, I'll read almost anything - even poetry, although I may not understand it :P |
