| Introduction | I grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa, a town of 30,000, went to a small (2,500 students) liberal arts college, Luther College, in Decorah Iowa, taught in a small town, Fountain City, Wisconsin, where the graduating class was 70. Then I came to the big city (Kansas City metropolitan area) where I taught in the inner city in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. I have lived in an apartment in the suburbs of Johnson County, KS, shared a rented house in an older neighborhood of Kansas City, MO (a couple of blocks from a not so great neighborhood), and now am paying on a mortgage of my own home in Raytown, Missouri. My parents gave me a solid background for learning, my college years taught me to think, my years of teaching in the inner city taught me that many have less than myself, and my faith has taught me to give of myself for others. This is who I am. |
