IntroductionWe are a pair of retired teachers meandering about the country in our COW—condo on wheels. Along the way we do some volunteering, babysit some grandchildren, and see some new places. We start each day of moving on down the road with Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” and take from him our theme: “Going places that I’ve never been, seeing things that I may never see again.” Don was in 7th grade for 30 years; he was Mr. Civics. Jean was an English prof at Concordia University Wisconsin. We spend the winters near Orlando because that is where the grandboys are. Our other favorite volunteer gig is with Habitat for Humanity; we started in Slidell, Louisiana the winter after Katrina hit and built in various places since. Home is Wisconsin in the Kettle Moraine State Forest in a 1940’s lake cottage. There we hike and laze about on the pontoon boat. That is, when we are not volunteering somewhere. Life is good; God has blessed us.
