Introduction Melissa Marsch-Walblay, a native of Kentucky, grew up around a world of textiles. Both grandmothers inspired her to be creative and to have no boundaries in designing. One a respected German seamstress, the other a Cherokee descendant and artist at the loom, taught Melissa to respect the fabrics and the life they can create. After achieving a BS and MS in Textiles at Western Kentucky University, teaching part-time for over ten years in the Textile department, Melissa has worked with numerous fabrics and ways to design. She believes all creations form by “inspiration, concept, design, product”. Her passion is working on silk, and creating unique, original designs. Inspiration is pulled from her family roots and being raised on Carpenter’s Lake with the beauty it held. Today she resides in Bowling Green, KY. Her artwork can be seen at Abide Studio in Franklin, TN, Mesh Boutique, Murfreesboro,TN, www.melissamarschwalblay.com or at marschinspiration.etsy.com.
