| Introduction | Ben Harder is a lecturer in the University of California, Riverside writing program. He received his Ph.D. in English from UCR in 2003. He is active in the classroom, the academy, and the union. Currently, he teaches nine four-unit courses in writing and composition (too many). His research work in composition theory focuses on empowerment and compromise in the multi-cultural composition classroom, while his current literary project examines intersecting and conflicting notions of poetic identity, authority, and aesthetics within contemporary critical practice. He is currently chief negotiator for the lecturers' unit of the University Council of the American Federation of Teachers, which is why he has this blog. |
