| Introduction | A person's life experiences play a heavy hand in their stand on political issues, so here's a little about me. I grew up outside of Portland, OR in a religious conservative family and like most children shared my parents' political views for a while. As I got older and educated myself more I moved steadily over to more liberal. I left Oregon in 2003 and moved to California for a few months before ending up in Austin. I've always had an interest in government and politics. I did Youth Legislature in high school (one thing on the long list of extremely geeky things I've done). I'll spare you all my opinions on all the issues, but I will say I'm a big believer in being an educated voter. On a more personal note, I'm 34, panicking about turning 35, and a mom of three boys aged 3, 10 and 14. While I love my family I don't label myself "single mom." It carries way too many connotations that aren't me. My personal interests, a few of those geeky things, I play video games, read a lot, watch Star Trek and Stargate; less geeky, I love hiking and all sorts of outdoor activities, fitness as much as I can, and I'm learning to mountain bike. |
