| Introduction | During my round the World Trip, I did a course in Batik Painting in Chiang Mai, in Thailand, in February 2011. The technique can be complicated ... especially if you are travelling, back packing. The paintings are all done on fabric, and melted wax is applied as a resist for the dyes on the fabric (the wax is then removed when the colours are dry). So you need a pan to heat the wax, decanters, colour dyes and the usual brashes, on top of the fabric. I enjoyed so much the Course and I determined that I would paint during my journey around the world.... against all the odds. My teacher helped me a lot ... as good teachers do. I also finished a drawing course in June 2011, in Bolivia, in Sucre, with the Bolivian artist Fernando Ocampo Sandy. My project is to create at least one artwork related to each Country visited in my round the world trip from Nov. 2010 to October 2011. |
