| Introduction | I am a resident and property owner in the Fairview Fire District of Dutchess County, New York, since 1989. My view is that effective governance requires the public, and public officials, to have their facts straight. Yet some local public officials have had surprising difficulty getting their figures right, even for simple objective data. I’ve been working to correct the record on property-tax-related issues in Fairview and in Dutchess County since 2008.
