Introduction I'm a culturally left, post-punk, vintage-loving college professor who adores food, loves cooking, and struggles with hypoglycemia. I gave up eating all meat in 1984, tried being vegan several times (which I loved ethically, but it wreaked havoc on my blood sugar management), and now maintain a vegetarian-centered diet with limited dairy and occasional fish. Trying to achieve an elusive balance between ethical eating, delicious eating, whole foods eating, healthy eating, low-glycemic eating, and calorically-sane eating (I just joined Weight Watchers, and want to lose about 20 pounds). This combination weight-loss blog, vegetarian/hypoglycemic cooking blog, and existential ruminations blog will chart one person's attempts to figure out the simplest of things: how to eat in challenging times.
