Introduction	NSRG started in 2001 as a citizen advisory group for the Navesink-Swimming River partner of the Subwatershed Regional Council of the Monmouth Coastal Watersheds Partnership. NSRG and the other coastal Monmouth County watershed partners operate under the general auspices of the Monmouth County Planning Board. NSRG has participated with the county on a major study of contaminants in the Ramenessin Brook and has provided advice and advocacy about matters affecting the watershed. NSRG has coordinated more than 50 cleanups on land and on water, including many historical dumpsites and removed approximately 35 tons of trash and recyclables from the waterways, wetlands and buffers of the watershed.
