| Introduction | Dr. Rajesh Kumar Vyas is a renowned cultural poet, art critic and travelogue writer of India. Honoured with the highest honour of the Central Sahitya Akademi, the travelogues of Dr. Vyas, published by National Book Trust, India, such as ‘Kashmir se Kanyakumari’, ‘Narmade Har’ and ‘Aankh Bhar Umang’ have been much talked about and acclaimed. He has written 27 books. Dr. Vyas has been the guest editor of ‘Samkaaleen Kala’, the magazine published by Central Lalit Kala Akademi. He has been the recipient of several awards and accolades, including the prestigious Sahity academy, MP Govt. National Achary Ramchandr Shukl aalochna Award, komal kothari award, ‘Rahul Sankrityayan Award’ by the Government of India. Consistently associated with numerous reputed newspapers and magazines as a columnist on art and travel, Doordarshan created and aired a travel series, ‘Desert Calling’, based on the research and articles by Dr. Vyas. He has also written more than a dozen documentaries for Doordarshan on Indian culture and art. He is an officer of the Rajasthan Information Service (1996 batch), and currently holds the position of Additional Director to Hon'ble Governor, Rajasthan. |
