Introduction Bandhwari Village is a small community of 6,000 located in the Gurgoan district, Delhi. The community consists of the Harijan and Gujjar castes. Government funding and other donations have seen two medical centres – one by the Indian Development Foundation (IDF) and the other by the government – and a small play school being set up to cater to the needs of the village. In addition, NGOs such as the Action for Community Transformation (ACT) have come in to implement self-sustaining businesses for the community. An example is the Women Livelihood Programme.
