Introduction I have been a professional photographer for about 14 years and a scrapbooker almost as long.
Interests I have this blog because it seems to be the 'must-have' of any aspiring artist but in truth, I am so busy scrapping that rarely am I dedicated to the updates) If you want updates they are best found here: www.facebook.com/MalinaofReflections Visit www.ScrapourStash.blogspot.com where I am a design team member and be inspired to create from what you already have! Your better-non-scrapping-halves will be glad to know "shopping" has a new definition for you. Also you can view some of my work plus that of some very talented artists as we meet the monthly challenges to inspire other scrapbookers & paper crafters. I give Scrap Our Stash full credit for helping to manage my paper addiction. If you submit to the challenge you may just be chosen as our Guest Designer of the Month. I also continue to design for Rochester Scrapbooking Company in Rochester, MN. If you are local then come see some of my work on display. If you register for a Friday crop feel free to email me and invite me along so we can inspire each other! I am fortunate to be a certified instructor through EK Success with Scrapbook Design University which has actually changed over to The Spotted Canary. In addition to formal training in teaching design, technique and theory of scrapbooking I have also developed a training course on how to use the Provo Craft Cricut machine from basics to advanced which I have been able to teach in various locations locally.
Favorite Movies I am working hard at being taken seriously as a professional artist in an area other than photography. Experiences as an instructor working with other talented artists and my teaching certification from EK Success in scrapbook design & technique has helped with this goal. It has also presented me opportunities to teach at Michael's & Joanne's Craft stores as the needs exist. Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, since 9-2010, has published my various layouts 7 times now and I am so grateful to them as it has helped my credibility in the field.
Favorite Music I do not feel I have a specific style, per se, but I love trying new techniques, tools, and projects. I try to always challenge myself to not be repetitive in my work and remain fresh as possible while not falling victim to the trends. I think for this reason I tend to be progressive in my work and yet I still haven't done a layout using banners which were all the rage in design last season! I am a certifiable paper addict and one day I imagine I will have more paper than memories if I am not careful! In as much as I enjoy traditional paper scrapbooking (I am not yet a convinced fan of digital scrapbooking because I like the feel of my work) I also enjoy other paper crafts. I create mini albums, specifically those cut into letters, words or shapes from chipboard. I also create tags, occassional ATCs, sometimes greeting cards, and custom embellishments to use on pages or albums. I use several different mediums in my work and love pages with texture, height and details. One might have to look at the page 2 or 3 times to see all I may tuck into my work. I do not mind journaling in my own handwriting...or someone else's which I have borrowed HA HA HA. Sometimes I might use a computer generated font which I trace over with a marker or mimic in my own hand. I am also creative when it comes to hiding my journaling in a page...let me rephrase this, I am FORCED to be creative in hiding/adding journaling to a page since often I forget to allow for this!
