IntroductionI've always liked boats. One of my earliest memories is going to a family friend's house and boating on the Bay. As a kid I was building really crude sailboats to play with on our pond. FINALLY at the age of 13 I learned to sail while on vacation in Maine. I went to college on the water where I used the school's boats to sail when I could. After college I spent a year working in a boatyard and bought an old wooden Hampton One Design. Sailed that most days after work which was fine as long as it was a typical light air summer day. When it got a little more breezy... not so good to be singlehanding! Anyway, fast forward several years and I moved up to bigger and bigger boats and sometime in the mid '90s started sailing on the ocean. As in OFFSHORE. Multiple races To/From Bermuda, to/from the islands of the Caribbean, etc. Now that I have my own boat I go sailing by myself whenever the Admiral (aka Carol) is not available or my sailing buddies are working. Carol picked up the sailing bug when we started dating, did some races and deliveries and has twice been my double handed partner in the Bermuda 1-2 race. See our boat blog at svdianthus.blogspot.com
