Introduction Michael Archer is the founder of The Water Cache Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and has worked as a consultant to a number of fire-related organizations over the years. The Water Cache Project will place helicopter dip tanks in drought-stricken wildland areas bordering human-inhabited areas, beginning with a pilot project in wildland areas outside of Los Angeles, California. This project will provide three important services: water to sustain wildlife during what is projected to be at least a 20-year drought; increased safety from both wildlife and wildfires for families and their pets living on the edge of wilderness areas (while reducing the number of wild animals killed by public safety officers); and water for firefighters, both on the ground and in the air during wildfires.
