| Introduction | I was born in St. Malo, France in 1491 and traveled West on four important voyages throughout my life. When I first embarked from France, I planned to find a western route to Asia, but instead came upon a river leading into a strange territory. When I set foot on the land, I befriended and traded with the Mi'kmaq Indian tribe. I discovered the St. Lawrence River and the Atlantic Canadian provinces. |
