www.circleinasquare.blogdrive.com I work with Symbolic Mysticism in acrylic, encaustic wax, mixed media collage, and ceramics. Ideas for my work come from dreams, the natural world, and themes of spirituality. It celebrates inter-connectedness and themes of transcendence. I'm interested in working with themes dealing with the ephemeral, immaterial, intangible things that sybolize and express the human spirit - of the relationship between Art and Spirituality. Much of my work ends up as a Circle within a Square. After years of being drawn to making paintings with this particular composition, I finally discovered that among many other things, the circle in the square symbolizes balance, completeness and unity of all life, and of the Infinite. I began making mandalas. Being drawn to that symbolism was pretty cool. I began thinking of these compositions as meditations on the transcendent mystery beneath the symbols. |
