| Introduction | My face in a pool on its side Where does the reflection end And I begin? Memories stretching out On all sides Rippling, rising, falling Imbued with the light of the moon Mercurial, nocturnal Coming to the surface in the night I breathe and it breathes Blink and it blinks Cry and it cries These tears of mine join with it Salt diffusing in the fresh water And I wonder if I’m doing the same Am I just a saturation of this sadness That cannot be absorbed into the whole Foam rising to the surface To be skimmed off by the sweeping gusts of wind That blow circular spasms Across its liquid black and shining skin Is this what I have become? Here in my inside mind Alive but alienated Vision expanding I should be seeing what surrounds me But all I see is myself Stretching out, reflecting Here I am... in here somewhere Or is it all of me... that I see My face in a pool on its side Or is it my face that is in fact just a false image |
