Introduction	I have been in education for 28 years, as a camp counselor and director; as a preschool, kindergarten, and Sunday School teacher; as a homeschooling parent; and as an early childhood teacher educator and educational researcher. My main job for the last 16 years has been as an early childhood (PK-3) teacher educator at Cleveland State University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood curriculum and child development, and doctoral courses in motivation. About five years ago, I became fascinated with trying to understand why America went along with the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)--a policy that in so many ways does the opposite of what the best research suggests is effective for the goals we value most. I also became passionate about figuring out how we can turn American education away from outdated and destructive test-driven teaching--and towards healthier and better approaches. This blog debunks the major myths at the heart of both the testing and privatization movements, and provides effective ways of reframing major educational debates.
