| Introduction | Bishnu Pokharel is a former BBC journalist, writer, and researcher from Nepal, currently pursuing a PhD at South Asian University, Delhi, India. With a deep passion for storytelling, poetry, and exploring history through the lens of current events, social media, and network societies, Bishnu brings over two decades of experience to his work. He holds a Master’s degree in Kashmir and South Asia Studies from the University of Kashmir and is the co-author of two books: Dimensions of Corruption: Investigation of Journalists (Transparency International Nepal) and South Asia: State, Society, and Development (Gyan Publishing House, New Delhi). His contributions have earned him fellowships with the Thomson Reuters Foundation (2012) and the South Asia Foundation (2014–16). Born and raised in a remote northeastern village of Nepal, Bishnu overcame unique challenges. He first learned the English alphabet in grade 4 and only encountered modern amenities—such as electricity, cemented houses, vehicles, roads, television, computers, and the internet—at the age of seventeen. His journalism has always been driven by an unwavering belief in one principle: hard work, hard work, and hard work. |
