About me

Location Cockermouth, Cumbria
Introduction I set up an art gallery in 1987 in Castlegate House, (www.castlegatehouse.co.uk) Since that opening day a procession of interesting characters has passed through. I have mounted exhibitions of work by L S Lowry, Sheila Fell RA, Winifred Nicholson, Percy Kelly, Michael Bennett, Picasso prints and many more. No two days have ever been the same and finding art and artists has taken me all over the world. I have written for Art Review, Cumbria Life and countless catalogues. In 2002 I wrote a hard back book The Painted Letters. Then Whitewash and Brown paint 2009 saw the publication of Hercules and the Farmer's Wife (Aurum Press) which is a look into the secret life of an art gallery. This introduces such characters as the transvestite postman, the man who was irresistible to women, the striped cat, the painting bought at auction by mistake and the mystery of the purple house and many more. I am now working on the sequel. All can be found on Amazon, Waterstones and good bookshops.
