Introduction	Having lived and worked in Asia for the past twenty years running my own research consultancy, I have finally returned to enjoy Australia with my family. For more than 10 years I have been associated with a UK-based NGO that monitors press freedom, democracy and transparency throughout the developing world. I have been providing monthly updates on Taiwan and the Philippines, two countries in which I have lived and worked. The New C-Spot is where I publish these reports. I continue to write on a range of topics and make my living as a freelance writer and editor as well as mentor, encouraging young people especially to develop their writing and communication skills.
