| Introduction | And what about me? What about my "heartedness"? Do I have a good-heart - am I good-hearted? Whom do I ask? Whom do you call? Anyone you asked would likely give give a different answer. No one is the same person to everyone they know. I guess I aim at being a "good guy", though I´d have to admit I don´t always manage it. At my best I can be compassionate, thoughtful and generous, but at my worst I know I have sometimes been mean-spired,self-centered, and intolerant. I can be moved by the afflictions of a billion strangers, by the blanket of sorrow wich sometimes seems to lay over the whole world, but individual complaints often leave me cold, especially with someonne I know. It´s easy to give strangers the benefit of the doubt, to assume that their misfortunes are not their own fault, but when you know someone, the reasons for his or her difficulties can be only too aparent. |
