Introduction Originally trained as a painter, Susan has been working in fibre art since 2003, and her works are in private collections across Canada, the U.S., the U.K and Europe. Major awards include Best in Show in Threadworks (2004), the Fibre Art Award at Insights (2006), and Best in Show at Touched by Fire (2008). Susan has her Diploma in Stitched Textiles Design from the City & Guilds Institute, U.K. and teaches workshops in fibre art techniques throughout Southern Ontario. Susan also offers private instruction in her studio, though her popular "Play for a Day" getaways. Susan is also a musician, and her ability to get lost in music is actually a distraction while working at her art. She has Grade 6 piano and Grade 4 classical guitar, and also plays by ear and has been a chorister since a young age. She still plays folk guitar occasionally in church. Susan enjoys translating her response to music into art forms, from paintings to quilts, and in one notable instance self-published a book about her full sized quilt on the Goldberg Variations, The Story of Robert’s Quilt. This was produced for her friend, the late composer Robert Evans.
Interests mixed media art, painting, classical music especially Bach, horses, healing arts, environmental issues
