Introduction Founder of Girl Power Clubs, Dr. Elizabeth Odera, who is a celebrated Kenyan sports professional, realized that many girls were left out of the main stream in sports, and did not experience the benefits that sport could play in improving health, building self esteem and promoting a successful life. She initiated Girl Power Clubs in 2007 to help give girls an opportunity to get mentored and find life solutions. Girl Power has impacted 3740 girls, in Nairobi, Kisumu, Siaya and Busia Counties and many have gained important scholarships to college, professional sports, job training and business. “Princy”, as the kids call her, has been involved in the education and training of more than 11,000 youth in various sports, including basketball, tennis, football, rugby, athletics and swimming amongst poor and rich communities alike, making Sadili the melting pot for youth sports in the East African region. Dr. Odera, who is Director of non-profits, Sadili Oval Sports Academy and Malezi Foundation, is a ChangemakeHer, and was honored with the medal of French Order of Youth and Sports by the French Government and a the Head of State Commendation (HSC) from the Government of Kenya.
