Introduction Jeremy Labram is a “Scientist plus”. He holds a Food Science degree from Leeds University and has studied practical philosophy and economics at the School of Economic Science in London. He has worked in commercial roles in: • the food business, • building supplies industry, • oil business, • procurement, • facilities management, • waste management. Most recently he is a principal consultant in a City based management consultancy. He says: "I became a climate watcher three years ago. The world was waking me up to a problem but the Human Race seemed unable to respond to it collectively and decisively. Now I see climate change as a symptom of a more challenging problem for humankind - an ignorance of what will make us really happy. In other words, believing somehow that desires, particularly material ones, will ultimately bring fulfilment. By collectively pursuing this route we are in danger of bringing ruin to the race and the rest of the biosphere. Here is an opportunity to address a real threat to our existence and a reason to consider how we have to exist more responsibly on a planet which is far from infinite"
