| Introduction | Gerry started his aviation career when 13 years old at the Bristol & Gloucester Gliding Club. He joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) at 16 years of age at the No.1 School of Aircraft Technical Training Halton, he became a gliding instructor at the prestigious RAFGSA Centre, at only at 17 years of age. Whilst training he won the Whitbread Bursary Award & Sir Phillip Sassoon Flying Scholarship He passed out of Halton with honours in 1971 1972 saw him become one of the first people in the UK to successfully fly a hang glider. He was undoubtedly the first person to coin the word ‘microlight & he became regarded by many as the ‘father’ of microlight aviation. Gerry has taken part in many films and television documentaries. They range from flying as a stunt pilot to training pilots for a James Bond film. He was the personal flying instructor to HRH King Abdullah of Jordon. He has now amassed over 20,000 hours flying experience on more than 200 aircraft types. He is a CAA Panel Examiner, CAA Flying Instructor Examiner (FIE), and Britains only Microlight Seaplane Examiner. He is undoubtedly one of the world’s most able and distinguished microlight pilots. |
