| Introduction | In my teens I found myself job hunting and stumbled across a local jeweler- under her wing i learned the simplest form of soldering and mass production. It was love at first flame. I soldered so much and so often that I swear by now I could probably do it with my eyes closed and my hands tied behind my back- but it helped me grow. I wanted to know everything... through books and a lot of experimenting I began to teach myself more advanced techniques and my skills grew rapidly. I started against the grain and then decided I still needed to know more. I started taking classes at Mesa Center for the Arts and I never looked back. Metals are my passion. I now experiment in many different silversmithing techniques and have recently become one of the workshop instructors at the very same art center that I was taught at. I find a tremendous amount of beauty in irregularity and repetition and I focus on this in my work. Everyone has their imperfections and finding ways to take those imperfections and give power to them is something that is both bold and beautiful. I strongly believe in and live by the quote, “You were born an original, don’t die a copy.” |
