| Introduction | I bring a life's journey to this topic of exploring the gap. It is an account of a struggle to reconcile the education gained within a close-knit faith community and that of a study if of western philosophy. The skills I bring to this dialog were developed over 27 years as a writer and systems analyst in a major aerospace company. I try to apply the training I have in areas such as object-oriented analysis, object-oriented design, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, systems analysis, writing, and modeling. My background and interest in philosophy instilled in me a curiosity in fields too many to become an expert in any. My major shortcoming is I have more interest and ideas than my reading speed and time can accommodate; I am forever both frustrated at the snail’s pace of my learning, and at the same time excited about what I have yet to learn. Finally, I am a person in transition. I see myself but a small contributor who wishes to add a voice to the others committed to make this a better world! |
