Introduction | Susan has been writing ever since she was inspired and encouraged as an eight-year-old by her class teacher in a 1950s’ primary school. For years, she kept everything on the ‘back burner’, accumulating piles of manuscripts, notebooks and diaries along the way, until she invested in a word processor in the early 1980s and it all came together. Soon she was established as a freelance writer, with articles on subjects ranging from frogs to trains, and from dolls to ceramics, as well as supplying a stream of short stories to various magazines. In the mid-1990s, she wrote ‘Mike’s Bike’, which was one of the ‘Supersonics’ reading scheme titles for Ginn, and also produced a series of children’s stories intended for visually handicapped children, which were printed in Braille and published by the RNIB. Later she became involved in the world of collectables, especially concentrating on dolls and toys, and is a regular contributor to many magazines. Recently, collections of her short stories have become available on Kindle, as well as some full-length novels. These will be appearing before long in paperback format. |
