You can whistle and steam can whistle, so why do you sing in the shower?
Because whistling occurs when there is high air pressure escaping through a small space, causing the edges of whatever the air is escaping through to vibrate at a fairly high frequency. However, there is very little pressure in a shower, and the whistling of steam is less melodic than the tunes in my head. :-)
