About me

Introduction	I study constitutive intra-professional argumentation. In plainer English, that means I study how professionals, by arguing with one another, shape an idealized identity that defines the profession. In other words, a doctor might argue with another doctor about the kinds of qualities a doctor is supposed to have: compassion? Pacifism? Scientific detachment? It's bound up a good deal with professional ethics, but that's not all it's about. And, I will admit, I'm still figuring out what it's about. It's a project in progress.
